XR Sculpture Workshop

WHEN:          10th -12th July 2026
WHERE:        Ganslberg
FOR WHOM: Independant artists

In the former studio of Fritz Koenig, we invite independant artists to an international XR Sculpture Workshop that bridges tradition and the future. At the very place where Koenig created his iconic, powerful forms – reduced, precise, and defined by the tension between gravity and balance – we will explore how his artistic language can expand into the digital realm.

Instead of working with clay, plaster or metal, participants will use virtual materials: in programs such as Gravity Sketch, three-dimensional forms emerge that echo Koenig’s sculptural thinking but extend it into new dimensions. By assembling and transforming 3D models, we will revisit questions of body, space, and void—free from physical gravity, yet inspired by Koenig’s sensitivity to structure and tension.

This workshop offers the opportunity to create your own virtual sculptures—blending craftsmanship, digital art, and sculptural vision—and to carry Koenig’s legacy forward into the present and beyond.

For this workshop we invited artists from Turkey and Bavaria to guide you: Aylin Taslak, İREM ÇOBAN, Anne Kristin Kristiansen and our host: Christian Schnurer. You will find more infos about them below.

The workshop will finish with a Pop-Up Exhibition of the works in progress on the Sunday afternoon.

Places for the workshop are limited. Applications can be sent to hi@xrhub-bavaria.de. The application shall include the following:
– Your name and an overview about your portfolio
– Motivation why you want to participate in the workshop and first ideas
what you would like to explore in the field of virtual sculptures with a view to Fritz Koenig.

Application deadline: 31st March.

The XR HUB Bavaria will provide XR Headsets for the workshop.
You are asked to bring your own laptops.

There is a possibility to stay in a small hotel, the Wasmayr Hof, close to the venue at your own cost. We reserved a number of rooms. Please let us know if you would like to stay in the hotel in your application.
