Germany is back at SXSW 2025 with the German Haus, a huge German delegation and a varied programme: XPLR and the City of Munich invite international guests for a Bavarian Breakfast. XPLR presents among others the World Premiere of LUMINESCENCE by Anke Schiemann, /p & She’s Excited!. Come along and create with us the interactive mixed reality experience!

LUMINESCENCE – AN INTERACTIVE MIXED REALITY EXPERIENCE

The heart of LUMINESCENCE lies in its interactive and immersive nature. Through the multiplayer Augmented Reality app ARpoise, the audience is surrounded by 3D objects which guide them through the journey: They meet on the beach, then jump into the ocean and float with the currents, dive into the deep sea and emerge again, facing the imminent danger of climate change.

Everyone present plays a pivotal role in shaping the live performance. By tapping on the 3D objects during the performance, the audience brings the (under)water world to life. At the same time they become an important part of the concert, because every 3D object contains an audio sample: Via their smartphones and provided tablets, everyone can trigger soundscapes and melodies live alongside the performer, merging their actions into a harmonious whole. This dynamic collaboration results in a one-of-a-kind Mixed Reality experience that unfolds in real-time.

LUMINESCENCE will also be released as an interactive audio-visual album
with five songs, showcased as AR-Sound-Installation.

ARTISTS
Anke Schiemann is a media artist and filmmaker based in Berlin and Munich. She is interested in exploring new ways of narrative and shaping them into immersive, sensory installations. She experiments primarily with XR and spatialized sound, frequently collaborating with musicians.

Peter Graf aka /p is the Co-Founder and Lead-Developer of the Augmented
Reality App ARpoise. He showcases his AR art all over the globe.

Anne Wichmann aka She’s Excited! is an award-winning Indie Pop producer, powerhouse performer and sound artist based in New York City and Munich. She designs and produces interactive immersive showcases that break down the barrier between audience and artists.

K5 Factory presents Oktoberfest – the official game, which is a social VR experience that brings the festival’s magic and excitement to life and unlocks access to the virtual funfair experience with rides and games inspired by the Munich Oktoberfest.

Caldo Worldwide presents three projects by international artists at the exhibition: the game “Anhad” by the gaming artist Sahej Rahal from India, the book “Interplay” by Will Freudenheim and William Morgan and the simulation game “Schema” by Will Freudenheim.
