When:
23. July starting at 18.30 h
On July 23, 2025, an exhibition responding to the theme of ‘Avatars’ in immersive artworks will be held at the XR Hub in collaboration with the LMU Institute of Art History. It brings together reflections on several different media, ranging from most recent developments in gaming and VR Art, to the historical and traditional media of artistic expression relevant to the experience of immersion. In addition to a performance, two works will be on display, courtesy of VR Radiance App: Swan Collective’s „Here We Are“ and Rebecca Merlic’s „GLITCHBODIES“.
The exhibition aims to explore the intersections of virtual identities, gaming, and artistic practice, highlighting how avatars—functioning as a point of contact between digital environments and human experience—open up new forms of self-perception and presence. By examining the significance of avatars in these emerging phenomena, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the evolving relationship between embodiment and digitality.
